Mark S. Hammond, CEO

Mark Hammond, co-founder of The Retail Equation, serves as the company’s CEO and chairman of the board. Prior to launching The Retail Equation, he founded Risk Data Corporation, which was later acquired by HNC Software. At Risk Data, Hammond raised venture capital financing and was responsible for taking the start-up from business plan to a company with more than 100 employees. Following the acquisition of Risk Data and while at HNC, Hammond orchestrated the acquisition of CompReview for approximately $200 million, which eventually became 30 percent of the company’s total revenue. Hammond also holds two patents (5,613,072 and 5,712,984) as co-inventor of Risk Data Corporations’ MIRA product. Hammond holds a master’s degree in Business Management from the University of Redlands.

Mark R. Hilinski, EVPBusiness Development and Strategic Accounts

Mark Hilinski co-founded The Retail Equation with Mark Hammond and serves as executive vice president of Business Development and Strategic Accounts. Hilinski has more than 15 years of sales and marketing experience, most recently with Risk Data Corporation and HNC Software. While at HNC, he served as the vice president of Client Relations and was responsible for new product launches, business development and revenue retention. Hilinski earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from California Polytechnic University, Pomona.

David R. Justus, CFO

David Justus is the CFO of The Retail Equation. In this role, he leads the finance, accounting, administration and legal operations of the organization. He has extensive background in corporate finance, accounting and business strategy with venture-funded start-ups as well as Fortune 500 companies. Prior to joining The Retail Equation, Justus held a senior management position at Qualcomm, Inc., where he focused on finance and strategic development. Justus also served as executive vice president and CFO of SkyDesk, an online data and storage company. While at SkyDesk, he helped lead the organization through two successful acquisitions and its ultimate sale to SwapDrive, Inc. Justus held several public accounting positions at Arthur Andersen, LLP before joining SkyDesk. Justus is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California State Society of CPAs. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from Arizona State University and is a certified public accountant.

David B. Speights, Chief Statistician

David Speights, PhD., is the chief statistician at The Retail Equation. He has extensive experience enhancing business efficiency through application of statistical models. Prior to joining The Retail Equation, Speights was first vice president of Mortgage Credit Risk Modeling at Washington Mutual. There, he was responsible for designing and building risk models for the underwriting of new mortgages and management of the organization’s $100 billion residential mortgage portfolio. Before joining Washington Mutual, Speights was the chief statistician at HNC Software. Over the past 15 years, he has also served as a private consultant to the pharmaceutical industry, research institutions, retail management and insurance companies. Speights holds a Ph.D. in Biostatistics from the University of California, Los Angeles and has several patents pending.

Peter L. Bradshaw, CTO

Peter Bradshaw is the chief technology officer for The Retail Equation. He manages the company’s development, MIS and customer service teams, ensuring support for each of its clients. Prior to joining The Retail Equation, Bradshaw held executive positions at Bell Telephone Laboratories, TRW, Xerox and Document Sciences Corporation. He has been responsible for the development and delivery of numerous software products and has successfully led product development in both large and start-up organizations. Bradshaw holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Los Angeles in addition to a master’s degree in Computer, Information and Control Engineering from the University of Michigan.

Robert E. Walters, VPSales and Marketing

Robert Walters is the vice president of Sales and Marketing for The Retail Equation. In this position, he is responsible for managing the sales team and spearheading marketing efforts for the company. Prior to joining The Retail Equation, he served as the vice president of Sales for IntelliVid. Before joining IntelliVid, he was the executive vice president of Sales and Marketing for Datavantage, a software development/service company and subsidiary of Micros Systems, Inc. Walters also held executive positions with both Callos Technology Partners and Entre Consulting. Walters holds a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems from Youngstown State University.

Thomas W. Rittman, VPMarketing

Tom Rittman is the vice president of Marketing for The Retail Equation. In this role, he is responsible for the organization’s branding, demand generation, marketing research and communications, as well as product marketing. Prior to joining The Retail Equation, Rittman served as the vice president of marketing for Datavantage, the retail technology subsidiary of Micros Systems Inc., where he was responsible for the organization’s marketing strategy, development and execution. Before joining Datavantage, he held various marketing leadership positions with TMW Systems and Roadway Express. Rittman serves on the National Retail Federation's associate member advisory council, a committee designed to address the needs of the organization’s growing associate member base. He holds his bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the University of Akron.
