Implementing solutions from The Retail Equation is easy, especially when compared to almost any other store systems deployment project.
In-store Considerations
Deployment occurs via point-of-sale (POS) integration or standalone terminal.

The typical process is to perform a pilot and utilize the subsequent post-pilot data analysis to provide the information necessary to make a roll-out deployment decision. Most pilots are performed on VeriFone Vx510 terminals.
TRE solutions are integrated to a wide variety of POS, including commercially available packages and in-house developed/maintained systems.
Multi-channel
The Retail Equation’s services also work outside of the store – in an ecommerce or catalog/call center operation. Integration options are available in these cross channel scenarios.
Connectivity
Connectivity is ideally established as a broadband transmission over the IP network or through a dedicated line. However, any reliable communication system can be used, including telephone networks or other custom communications solutions. To ensure that customer privacy is protected, transmissions should be encrypted.
ID Scanning Equipment
Return authorization services may require the collection of consumer information via a government-issued ID. These cards are encoded with either a magnetic stripe or a 2-D barcode, either of which can be found on the back of the ID. IDs with a magnetic stripe can be swiped using the magnetic stripe reader on the POS or terminal device. For IDs with a 2-D barcode, information can either be manually entered or electronically captured using an E-Seek model 200, a Honeywell (Metrologic) 1690, or a Motorola (Symbol) DS6707 handheld scanner. This optional scanner will speed up the process of collecting ID information and remove possible clerk errors.
